Happy Campers!

Our first camping trip was a success!! Parker wasn't so happy when we went to an adults only camping trip a few weeks ago. So we decided to spend the weekend at Fish Lake Beach, which is really just 5 minutes from home. We wanted to try it out and make sure Parker could handle sleeping in the great outdoors, without any temperature controls and the noises of outside. He LOVED it! He spent hours running in and out of the tent (because he could do the zipper himself), jumping on the air mattress and just goofing around! He also had a great time with his "friends" and was always asking "where my friends go?" and "where Ethan?" any time the big kids left without him.

The beach was really nice - soft sand with huge sand piles perfect for climbing! And the water was warm and shallow. And we needed to swim as it was HOT this weekend - mid 90's both Saturday and Sunday. Our campsite was not very secluded and had just two trees so no shade and it was just baking by 9am.

We saw the fireworks Saturday night at Venetian Night in Fox Lake. Parker is still afraid of loud noises and kept asking for quiet fireworks. As soon as they started going off, he closed his eyes and fell asleep - which is what he has done at every firework show we have been to this year! Oh well - maybe next year he will start to enjoy them!
