Enjoying our snow day...

...and updating some of this handsome little guy's photos! He will be two months tomorrow and weighs over 11 pounds! Growing strong and healthy.

He started day care with Ms. Ginny yesterday and was busy charming everyone there! The night before, Jeremy was telling him that I was going back to work. Parker spit out his pacifier and was giving Jeremy a stare down! Monday morning went smoothly and we were out the door on time. Mommy was sad and stressed out, but Parker did very well! Ms. Ginny was preparing a bottle and Parker was not willing to patiently wait for her. While crying, a toddler came over and talked to Parker and he instantly calmed down. I'm pretty sure Parker is going to enjoy day care more than he enjoys his days at home with Mom!

All dressed up and no where to go!!

Ready to work with daddy (or just bring him some lunch!)

Big Smiles!

Parker has been gracing us with a "social smile" since five weeks old. They are usually quick smiles but here are a few of them captured on camera.

What does a newborn play with?

We pulled out the play mat when Parker was a week old. Frequently throughout the day, he is in his state of "quiet awake" (and very alert!) so we figured we should entertain him somehow! By four weeks old, we could tell he was actively using his hands to reach out to things, including us.

We also went outside for a walk two days in a row, when the temperature reached the 50's & 60's in mid January. He enjoys the baby carrier and promptly falls asleep. I imagine the motion is very similar to what it was like in the womb.

Bath Time!

We were quite relieved to find out someone loves the water! Who wouldn't with a bathtub like this-it has jacuzzi jets that bubble under his bottom as he relaxes in the water!

Due Date

Today is Parker's official due date - and he is already 19 days old!

One of Parker's favorite places is resting right in the center of my chest. He uses his step reflex to climb up my stomach and chest, and nestles his head directly under my chin. Sometimes he is so close it's almost uncomfortable as he nearly chokes me! Right after birth he had a tendency to twitch and make very sudden movements. The pediatrician assured us it was completely normal and after his first week, we barely notice it anymore. It is an amazing feeling holding him on my chest and seeing and watching his movements - those same movements that just days before I could feel only inside my belly. He is also much more active in the evenings, just as he was before birth. He spends most of his day sleeping until about 5pm...and then he is awake past midnight!

Charlie, meet Parker.

Our cat, Charlie, isn't the friendliest cat. She is perfectly fine and content around us, but doesn't respond well to strangers or visitors in the house. We figured bringing a baby home would be quite the adjustment for the cat. When we brought Parker home, Charlie came over to look in the car seat and then quickly ran away. She has spent most of this first week hiding upstairs (as we live mainly on the first floor).

When Parker was a few days old, Charlie was sitting on the edge of our bed. Jeremy had Parker in his arms and crouched down to show Charlie. Charlie proceeded to sniff him and then hissed...Parker just put his hand up in her face. Way to show her the back of your hand, Parker!

What's in a name?

Since someone decided to make his arrival three weeks early, we hadn't yet decided upon a name. We had a few ideas but knew we had to have a name decided before introducing him to the world. This little guy was about 20 minutes old and laying in my arms. Jeremy and I quickly ruled out one of the names because it just didn't fit him. We sat there for a minute, then figured we should ask him what he thinks. I asked, "Do you look like a Logan?", and he proceeded to stick his tongue out, as though disgusted by the thought! I then asked about "Parker," he stuck up his first finger (like the #1 signal) and put his finger in his mouth...a much more favorable response! So Parker William Redman it is. Hope he likes it - he picked it out himself!
